Soil Chemical Pollution and Military Actions: A Bibliometric Analysis

Contrary to the optimistic expectations three decades ago, global military expenditure is increasing rather rapidly, fueled by intensity of international tensions. As a consequence this, military-caused soil pollution gains in importance. On basis bibliometric analysis 3500 articles, it obvious that level interest this topic has been fluctuating last decades, but years, more than two hundred and fifty new publications have appearing annually. The majority are authored US, Chinese, Western European authors. Five main research areas could be identified cluster following keywords: Heavy metal pollution, water resource consequences food chain, organic components remediation, analytic method development. most central problem heavy contamination. basic topics risk management, contamination, depleted uranium problem. There further need study possibilities decreasing chemical pollutants, especially metals.
